Richard C. “Dick” Hursey, age 88, of Ligonier, IN passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Avalon Village in Ligonier, IN. He was born in Loop City, NE the son of James and Inez (Norval) Hursey on December 1, 1932. On October 1, 1955 he married Jane Sprague at the Ligonier EUB Church.
Dick served his country honorably in the United States Army and worked for West Noble School Corporation for twenty four years while farming for over 30 years. He was a past president of Stone’s Trace Historical Society, and a member of Cromwell-Kimmell Lion’s Club and Cromwell United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jane Hursey of Ligonier, IN; 6 children, Craig (Becci) Hursey of Goshen, IN, Dolph (Dawn) Hursey of Ligonier, IN, Guy (Tammie) Hursey of Kimmell, IN; Lynn (John) Reidenbach of Wawaka, IN, April (Mike) Weimer of Ligonier, IN and Amy (Jerry) Stoner of Ligonier, IN; twelve grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Aaron Reidenbach and Jackie Wilson, and six siblings, Clevia Rader, Warren Hursey, Lorren Hursey, Darrel Hursey, Darwin Hursey, and Bill Hursey.
A funeral service will be held in Dick’s honor at 11 am on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, IN.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Stone's Trace Historical Society.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Tuesday April 27, 2021, and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at Yeager Funeral Home.
