Lorraine Good

Lorraine Good, age 95, of Ligonier, Indiana passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 3:25 am at Orchard Pointe Health Campus in Kendallville.

She was born on February 5, 1930 to John & Anna (Poskonka) Ginter at home in Chicago, Illinois. Lorraine was married to Vance A. Good, Jr. from 1948 until his death in 2014. On January 17, 1986 they renewed their vows and were joined in the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony, having eloped when they were married in 1948.

Through the years, Mrs. Good was a busy woman who believed in hard work. She was a loving mother, a housewife and babysitter, a factory worker, a lunch lady at West Noble High School, and returned to babysitting after retirement to take care of her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ligonier and participated in the Ladies’ Rosary Sodality for many years. She loved to play Bingo, and dabbled in gardening and crafts, but her real skill was in the kitchen. She was an excellent cook and baker.

Survivors include her children, Cheryl (Thomas) Houser, John (Jerri) Good, Cynthia Schlemmer; 9 grandchildren, Timothy (Andi) Houser, Thad Houser, Tyrone (Patricia) Houser, Sheena Good Van Auken, Kiley (Martin) Tate-Potts, Travis Good, Zack Schlemmer, Elizabeth (Jack) Zhou,
Caitlin Schlemmer; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Eleanor Nowak, infant daughter Linda, and son-in-law Charles Schlemmer.

A Funeral Mass will be held in Mrs. Good’s honor at 11 am on Friday, April 25, 2025 at St. Patrick’s Church, 300 Ravine Park Drive, Ligonier with a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Father Ryan Timossi will officiate. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery, Kimmell, Indiana.

Memorial donations in memory of Lorraine may be given to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ligonier, Indiana.
