Kenneth M. Stanger, 86, of Florida, formerly of Knapp Lake, passed away on January 15, 2015 in Winter Haven, FL. He was born August 21, 1928 in Wawaka, IN to Roy C. and Ruth (LaRue) Stanger. He married Norma Carter on August 9, 1952 in Fort Wayne, IN. She preceded him in death on November 8, 2002. Kenneth is survived by 2 sons, Kenneth (Julie) Stanger, and their children, David and Sarah, of Auburndale, FL and Nicholas (Carolyn) Stanger of Roanoke, IN; brother, John Stanger, of Littleton, CO; a sister, Bonnie Showers, of Dewitt, MI. He was preceded in death by 6 brothers and a sister. Mr. Stanger grew up on the family farm in rural Noble County. Later, many happy memories were made there growing and selling Christmas trees. He excelled in high school sports, especially basketball and track & field. He had the best mile time in the state in 1947. He was employed with Uniroyal Goodrich and Essex Wire. He was a member of Shepherd By the Lake in Syracuse. After retirement, he and Norma enjoyed summers at Knapp Lake, IN and winters in Naples, FL. A Funeral Service in his honor will be on Friday January 23, 2015 at 11 A.M. at Yeager Funeral Home 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
