William L. Targgart, age 81, of Kendallville, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 in Kendallville, Indiana. He was born on June 19, 1943 to Roy and Mildred (Huser) Targgart in Wolf Lake, Indiana. He married Barbara Trueblood at Brimfield United Methodist Church in Wawaka, Indiana on July 15,1972.
William is survived by his wife, Barbara Targgart of Kendallville; children; William Brian (Elizabeth) Targgart of Avilla, Amy (Clint) Renkenberger of Kendallville; 2 grandchildren,Wyatt Targgart, Paizlee Renkenberger; sisters, Phyllis Myers of Kendallville, Martha Schrock of Albion, Kay (Dave) Peterson of Brownsburg; brothers, James (Sharon) Targgart of Waterloo and Terry (Mary) Targgart of Wawaka. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Targgart and sister, Flossie Smith.
William worked for Starcraft for over 30 years, Dexter Axle for 15 years and B&J Specialties. He was a member of the Noble and LaGrange County Gas and Steam Associations. William loved antiques, especially antique tractors, International tractors and farming. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 2-6pm at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, Indiana 46767. A service will be held in Williams’s honor at 11 am on Monday, February 3, 2025 at the funeral home with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Pastor Greg Hire will officiate. Burial will take place at Orange Cemetery in Rome City, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be directed Brimfield United Methodist Church, 1027 E Sumit Street, Wawaka, Indiana 46794.
