Wayne Dee Alderfer, 83, of Cromwell, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Parkview Regional Medical Center.

He was born on September 3, 1943 to the late Carl and Jeanette Alderfer.

In November of 1965, in Etna Green, he married the love of his life, Lavina Bules. She preceded him in death on October 26, 2015.

Wayne worked delivering buses.

In his free time, Wayne enjoyed watching sports and bowling, but his true passion was his grandchildren, always making a point to go to as many of their events as possible.

He is survived by his children, Lewis Alderfer, Eric Alderfer, Jeannette (Joe) Pinkerton, Lynette Fritz; eight grandchildren, Christian, Cayla, Eric Jr., Caleb, Cean, Corey, Dalton, and Chelsea; great-grandchildren, Ryder and Jonathan; and siblings, Howard (Alverta), Phylis, and Mary.

Also preceding him in death were numerous brothers and sisters.

A Funeral Service celebrating Wayne’s Life will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at 4 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway S., Ligonier with calling from 2 p.m. until the start of the service at 4 p.m. Cremation services will follow.

The family request that anyone attending Wayne’s services please wear Flannel in Wayne’s Honor.
