Virginia Lee Johnson

Virginia Lee Johnson, age 76, of Ligonier, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 2:08 pm at Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born on December 1, 1946, the daughter of Lester Jr. and Mary L. (Johnson) Blake at Lucky Hospital in Wolf Lake, Indiana.

She is survived by two children, Rick Johnson of Indianapolis and Sarah (Sam) Prater of Ligonier; nine grandchildren, Taylor Morris, Kya (Pancho Luevano) Hunter, Tymber Johnson, Jaelynn Arbogast, Mylee Johnson, Rashon Johnson, Adrian Santiago, Uriah Prater, and Sawyer Prater; two great-grandchildren, Ezekiel Luevano and Eynzlee Luevano; and two siblings, James L. (Jody) Blake of Howe, Indiana and Patricia L. Morris of LaGrange.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Phillip “Flip” Morris in 2019; and a sister, Rebecca S. Nunn.

Virginia was a hard worker and worked in various capacities throughout her life. She was a supervisor at Superior Sample in Ligonier, did tax preparation, and ran Ligonier Wearly Monuments for several years. She also owned and operated the Pizza Shack, later Charger Pizza with Rick. Virginia enjoyed inventing, crocheting, and writing poetry. She also wrote a children’s book, Officer Rick and the Raccoon. Virginia loved her grandchildren, Elvis (He’s still alive btw), fountain diet Pepsi with extra ice, and bingo.

A funeral service will be held in Virginia’s honor on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11am at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, Indiana 46767. Pastor John Lutton will officiate. Virginia will be laid to rest at Oak Park Cemetery at a later date.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Yeager Funeral Home.
