Thomas Alan Wingard, age 73, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Topeka, passed away on March 17 th , 2023. He was born on May 22 nd , 1949 to Harley and Bernis (Yoder) Wingard. Thomas grew up in Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School. He did a lot of traveling in his younger years, living in Colorado, Arizona and California. Tom went on to settle down in Fort Wayne and established his own business, “Tom’s Metal Finishing”, which he successfully ran for over twenty years. He always had a great affection for animals, in particular turtles and tortoises, and had several of his own as pets for many years. His passion for riding Harley Davidson motorcycles led him to meet many great friends, including Kevin Craig, whose loyalty and true friendship will never be forgotten. Tom was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his daughter, Theresa Ziegler-Ritter and her husband Thomas, as well as his step-daughter, Chanda Luley, her husband Matt and beloved granddaughter MacKenzie Luley. Tom took great joy in being a father to Theresa and Chanda and grandfather to MacKenzie. He will be greatly missed.
Tom may be gone but will never be forgotten. His spirit will live on in the memories of those who loved him and in the roar of every Harley Davidson motorcycle that hits the open road.
Family and friends will gather for a committal service on Saturday, April 1 st at 11:30 am at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. Burial will take place at Eden Cemetery in Topeka, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to Humane Fort Wayne (https://humanefw.org/)
