Theresa "Jane" Hammack

Theresa “Jane” Hammack, 76, of Ligonier passed away on June 21, 2020 at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville.  She was born on August 9, 1943 to Eugene Stanbaugh and Margaret “Maggie” (Folk) Conner in Wolf Lake, Indiana.  Jane was later adopted by Edward “Ed” Conner.

Jane worked most of her life in the kitchen including: Foo & Fays, Maggie’s Cupboard, Dari Point, and Pizza Shack. Along with the kitchen she always had a second job. Some including seeing the changes from Hooks to Revco to CVS for 15 years; Western Consolidated Technologies for 18 years, Essex Wire and Ligonier Public Library.  Jane was a Noble County 4-H Bicycle Leader for many years.

She was a dedicated mother, mother-in-law, grandma and friend. She enjoyed making memories with her friends and family. Jane enjoyed attempting to learn new technology every time she got an update starting with an answering machine.  She also won Bingo games at the nursing home.

Jane is survived by her children; Penny Lehman of Cromwell; Dawn (Dolph) Hursey of Ligonier; grandchildren, Josh Maynard, Mitchel (Deloris) Maynard, Krystal (Mark) Barnfeild, John Lehman, Janie Hursey-Bryan , Janet Hursey, Andrew (Amber) Slone; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Conner and Tim (Patricia) Emely; sister, Cindi Hyndman.  She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Margaret Slone; a great-granddaughter, Shandelle Marie Barfield; and her beloved dog, Midnight.

A funeral service in honor of Jane will be held on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 10:00am at Yeager Funeral Home. Chaplain Pete Meneghello will officiate. Burial will take place at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, IN.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2020 from 2-8pm.  The family has requested that all guest wear a mask due to Covid-19 Pandemic.

Memorial contributions may be made to Noble County 4-H Bicycle or Dog Club.
