Stanley E. Lawson

Stanley Eugene Lawson, 86, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at his residence surrounded by family in Avilla, IN. He was born on March 27, 1931, in Kimmell, IN to Jerry and Lana I. (Twaits) Lawson.  He went in to the Army in 1951.

On April 29, 1986, he married Sandra Kay Christlieb of Ligonier, IN.  He was preceded in death by his parents; Jerry Lawson and Lana Myers; sister, Paula; brother, Jim Grate; and brother-in-law, Leroy Murphy.

He is survived by his wonderful wife, Sandy of 31 years, children: Linda (Virgil) Wicker, Dan (Jan) Lawson, Michael Lawson, Rob (Kim) Lawson, Scott (Anita) Lawson, Michele (Kevin) Tussey, and Dennis (Michelle) Shrader; Sister’s, Sharlene Murphy, Nancy (Don) Tepin, and Ann (Terry) Askren.  He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Over the years, Stanley was employed by the Sears Company.  He spent 38 years as a sales associate.   Later in life, he continued his love of helping others by making little purses with his wife that said “Jesus Loves Me” on them to give away to children and other folks. Other favorite pastimes included reading the bible, telling jokes, and laughing with everyone.

A graveside funeral service will be held in Mr. Lawson’s honor on Friday, June 9, 2017, at 12:00 PM at Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier, IN with Pastor Lee Bracey officiating. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Ligonier American Legion Post 243.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017, from 10AM-12 PM at Yeager Funeral Home – 1589 Lincolnway South Ligonier, IN 46767.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital - 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
