Roberta J. Fisher

Roberta J. Fisher, 100, of Ligonier, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at home. She was the last of the Johnson family. She was born on January 25, 1924 the daughter of Lyman and Edna (Firestone) Johnson in Ligonier, Indiana. On October 10, 1947, she married Billy B. Fisher; he preceded her in death on April 15, 2004.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol J. Gunder of Ligonier; two grandchildren, Pam (Greg) Johnson  of Woodlawn, Tennessee and Scott (Jennifer) Gunder of Warsaw; four great-grandchildren, Garrett Johnson and Kaylee Johnson, both of Woodlawn, Tennessee, Gavin Gunder and Lillian Gunder, both of Warsaw, Indiana; bonus grandchildren, Greg (Krista) Eash, Marc (Heather) Eash, and Christopher (Janelle) Eash all of Ligonier, Indiana;  along with many nieces and nephews.

Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Billy; her mom, Edna and her dad, Lyman who also lived to be a 100; along with  six siblings, Robert Johnson, Richard Johnson, Paul Johnson, Lucille Weeks, Phyllis Wells, and infant, Barbara Ellen Johnson.

She was a devoted homemaker and in her younger years, worked as a nanny and cleaned homes. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards, doing puzzles, word search, and cross-stitch. Roberta was very loved and will be missed.

A celebration of Roberta’s life will be held at 3pm on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. A private burial will take place at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, IN.

Family and friends will be received from 2-3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
