Robert L. Scott “Bob,” 90, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Ligonier, peacefully passed away amongst family on Friday, August 7, 2026. Bob was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was a man known for his honesty, integrity, and passion for the community.
Bob was the youngest of five siblings and was born on September 7, 1935, the son of Archie and Ruth (Beers) Scott in Kimmell, Indiana. Bob graduated from Wolf Lake High School in 1953. He enlisted in the Army Reserve in 1958, where he served a five-year stint. Soon after, he joined the Cromwell-Kimmell Lions Club, for which he faithfully served for sixty-three years. Along with that, he served the citizens of Noble County as a council member for 17 years.
With help from a mentor, at the tender age of twenty-one, Bob opened his own independent insurance agency known as “Scott Insurance” in downtown Ligonier. He owned and successfully ran the agency for 45 years, serving the people of Ligonier and Noble County.
Bob met his true love and life partner, Sina, in 1961 by noticing her as she would often pass his insurance office. They connected and fell in love and were married on March 24, 1963, in Wawaka, Indiana. Soon after, Bob and Sina welcomed their first son, Eric Scott, and then a few years later their second son, Kirk Scott. Bob and Sina’s love for their sons and each other had no bounds, and they were faithfully joined at the hips for sixty-three years until Bob’s passing.
One of Bob’s greatest enjoyments came from spending time and interacting with his two grandchildren, Jacob and Rachael. He loved to watch Jacob play hockey and Rachael perform in show choir. He adored them, and they adored him back. Bob also liked spending time at the family farm where he was born and raised. He would often say it was soothing to spend time there.
Surviving family members are Bob’s wife of 63 years, Sina Scott; son and daughter-in-law, Kirk and Paula Scott; and grandchildren, Jacob and Rachael Scott.
Preceding him in death were his son, Eric Scott; parents, Archibald and Ruth Scott; and siblings, Harold Scott, John Scott, Joe Scott, and Nila Bennett.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway S., Ligonier. A Memorial Service will be held the following Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Sparta Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Cromwell-Kimmell Lions Club.
