Raven Hicks Jr.

Raven “Bub” Hicks Jr., 77, of Ligonier IN, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, May 6th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 25th, 1947 In War, WV. Raven dedicated his life to service, both in the military and to his family.

Raven proudly served in the Army from 1967 to 1970, achieving the rank of SP5. His military career took him to various parts of the world, including tours in Pleiku, South Vietnam, where he earned numerous commendations for his bravery and leadership. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he was a source of inspiration to all who knew him.

Following his distinguished military service, Raven continued to work as an electrician with Silgan Plastics, where he worked for 42 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 243. Known for his knowledge in electrical work, he left a lasting impact on those he served and worked alongside.

In his retirement, Raven enjoyed working on cars, horseshoes, fishing, sudoku, and was always willing to help his family when needed. He was also an avid pool player, and enjoyed sharing stories and knowledge with his grandchildren.

Raven was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Raven Hicks Sr., and Son Kenny Hicks. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Omah Hicks; his children, Charity (Julio) Garcia of Wolf Lake, Penny Hicks of Rome City, Tammy Moorhouse of Albion, and daughter-in-law Jessica Hicks of Cromwell; his grandchildren, Shawn Hare, Zack (Shelbi) Hare, Ricky Hicks, Samantha Mast, Dalton Hicks, Samuel Hicks, and Emma Hicks; four great grandchildren and his siblings Linda (Charlie) Johnson of London KY, Patsi Hicks of Reston VA, Frank Hicks of Knapp Lake, Carol (Carl) Pulver of Albion, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. His legacy of service, love, and dedication will forever be cherished by his family and friends.

A viewing will be held from 11am-2pm on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Yeager Funeral Home,1589 Lincoln Way S, Ligonier, IN 46767. A service will be held in Raven’s honor at 2pm following the visitation at the funeral home. Pastor Shawn Bradley will officiate. Burial will take place at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, Indiana.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
