Raul Moreno-Castañeda

Raul Moreno-Castañeda, 88, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025 in Ligonier, Indiana. He was born on May 9, 1937 to Ignacio Moreno and Ana Maria Castañeda in Torreon Cahahuilo, Mexico. He married Socorro Hernandez Erives, she proceeded him in death on October 9, 2014.

He is survived by his children, Uriel (Aracely Valenzuela) Moreno of Goshen, Raul (Beatriz) Moreno of Ligonier, Eva (Juan de Dios Ortiz) Moreno Ortiz of Ligonier and Orfa (Jesus Maturino) Moreno Maturino of Durango, Mexico; fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Socorro H. de Moreno.

Raul was a minister who faithfully served the community of Durango, Mexico, for 40 years.

A visitation will take place on Monday, June 23, 2025 from Noon to 1 PM at Trinity Assembly of God, 1288 W. Union Street, Ligonier, Indiana 46767. A funeral service will be held to commemorate the life of Raul at 1 PM on Monday, June 23, 2025 following the visitation at the church. Burial will take place at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be directed to the donor’s choice.
