Phillip M. Butler

Phillip M Butler, age 79, formerly of Milford, IN, passed away on July 24, 2024, in Fort Wayne.  He was born April 6, 1945, to Carl A and Mabel M (Greider) Butler in Warsaw, IN.  On June 26, 1966, Phillip married Linda Jo Schenk, in Indianapolis.

Phil graduated from Auburn High School in 1964, and went on to graduate from Barber College in 1965.  In February, 1966, Phillip joined the US Army, honorably serving his country until February 1968, including time in Vietnam. Following his military service, Phillip worked for Conrail in Indianapolis, Elkhart, and Dearborn, MI, for 31 years before retiring in 2000. He then barbered in Syracuse and Nappanee and opened his own shop in Milford in May of 2005.  Phillip was formerly a member of Wawasee Heights Baptist Church in Syracuse.

Phil loved the outdoors year around.  He especially enjoyed gardening, biking, camping, hunting, and swimming.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Linda Butler of Topeka; children, Brian (Liz) Butler of Kendallville; Scott Butler of Topeka; Catherine Butler of Youghal, Ireland; Michael (Beccah) Butler of Elkhart, IN.  Grandchildren: Kyle, Kaley, Natalie, and Eric Butler; Julian, Angie, and Jaylah.  Sister: Ruth (Terry) Mendenhall of Kendallville. Brothers: Carlus Butler of Garrett, and Bruce Butler of Syracuse.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alice Bauman and Janet Pressler, and a brother,  Dale Butler.

A funeral service in honor of Phillip will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway S, Ligonier, IN.  Pastor Pat Park will officiate with burial following in the Milford Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received form 12 Noon to 2:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
