Olivia Joy (Grigsby) Porter, age 70, of Ligonier, IN, passed away peacefully at the Avalon Village Nursing Home on Sunday, May 7, 2017. She was born in Fort Wayne, IN on October 8, 1946, the daughter of Ralph and Queenie (Oliver) Grigsby. In June of 1971 Olivia married John D. Porter II; he preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, John D. (Brinda) Porter III; four grandchildren, Christina, Lori, Adam, and Michael Porter, all of LaGrange, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, two sisters, Victoria and Cynthia Grigsby; along with two aunts, Olga and Ena Oliver.
Olivia loved being with her family and friends. She spent the early part of her career working at the Lincoln Manufacturing company, than transitioned in to being a homemaker. Playing a game of Bunko always kept her spirits high. ..."Jessie James always used a gun"... would be the phrase that pays with Olivia. Her family will remember her by it and continue to share the meaning behind it.
A cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation & Remembrance Center. There will be a memorial service held at the graveside of Olivia on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 2PM at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, IN. Pastor Harold Gingerich will officiate the service.
Memorial contributions may be given in Olivia's name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation - National MS Society P.O. Box 4527 New York, NY 10163.
