Noel Varela (May 22, 1962 – February 5, 2026), age 63, born in Durango, Mexico, and a longtime resident of Ligonier, Indiana 46767, passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a true leader in his family. Known for his kindness, strength, and generosity, Noel always put others before himself and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Noel had a playful spirit and a youthful heart. At family gatherings, he often acted like a child, laughing, joking, and sharing joy. Though he had a strong character, he showed deep emotion toward those he loved most through hugs, kind words, and quiet gestures.

He worked at Star of the West for over 45 years, making it his first and only job throughout his lifetime. He earned the respect and admiration of all his colleagues through his dedication, hard work, and integrity. A lifelong dream of Noel’s was his Trans Am, the very car he and his wife drove when they were married—a symbol of love, memories, and shared happiness. He had a heart for helping others, always offering support even when no one asked. Noel loved God deeply and often spoke to his children about faith, guiding them with quiet wisdom. His deep, thoughtful gaze could communicate more than words ever could, reflecting the depth of his soul.

Noel was the beloved son of María Concepción and Fernando Varela. He was married to his loving wife, Ruth Edith Varela, and was a proud father to his four children: Joel Varela, Yesenia “Varela” Maya, Daniel Varela, and Noel Aaron Varela. He was also a proud grandfather to Luis Alonso Maya, Lucas Alexander Maya, and Joel David Varela. 

His love, guidance, and generosity will be forever remembered by his family and all whose lives he touched. Services will be held at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, Indiana 46767. Visitation: Friday, February 13 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again prior to the ceremony Saturday, February 14 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Ceremony begins at 2:00 p.m.

Noel’s legacy of love, faith, generosity, joy, and cherished memories will live on forever in the hearts of his family.

Noel Varela (22 de mayo de 1962 – 5 de febrero de 2026), de 63 años, nacido en Durango, México, y residente de Ligonier, Indiana 46767, falleció en paz mientras dormía. Fue un esposo devoto, un padre amoroso y un verdadero líder para su familia. Conocido por su bondad, fortaleza y generosidad, Noel siempre puso a los demás antes que a sí mismo y dejó una huella imborrable en quienes lo conocieron.

Noel tenía un espíritu juguetón y un corazón joven. En las reuniones familiares, a menudo actuaba como un niño, riendo, bromeando y compartiendo alegría. Aunquetenía un carácter fuerte, mostraba profunda emoción hacia quienes más amabamediante abrazos, palabras afectuosas y gestos silenciosos.

Trabajó en Star of the West durante más de 45 años, siendo su primer y únicotrabajo a lo largo de toda su vida. Allí se ganó el respeto y la admiración de suscompañeros gracias a su dedicación, esfuerzo y honestidad. Un sueño que siempretuvo fue su Trans Am, el mismo coche en el que él y su esposa se casaron—unsímbolo de amor, recuerdos compartidos y felicidad. Noel tenía un gran corazón paraayudar a los demás, siempre dispuesto a brindar apoyo incluso cuando nadie se lopedía. Amaba a Dios profundamente y con frecuencia hablaba a sus hijos sobre la fe, guiándolos con sabiduría silenciosa. Su mirada profunda y reflexiva podía comunicarmás de lo que las palabras podrían expresar, reflejando la profundidad de su alma.

Noel fue el amado hijo de María Concepción y Fernando Varela. Estuvo casado con su querida esposa, Ruth Edith Varela, y fue un orgulloso padre de sus cuatro hijos:Joel Varela, Yesenia Varela Maya, Daniel Varela y , Noel Aaron Varela. También fue un orgulloso abuelo de Luis Alonso Maya, Lucas Alexander Maya, y Joel DavidVarela. Su amor, ejemplo y generosidad serán recordados para siempre por su familia y todos aquellos cuyas vidas tocó.

Los servicios se llevarán a cabo en Yeager Funeral Home, ubicada en 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, Indiana 46767. La velación será el 13 de febrero de 6:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m., y nuevamente antes de la ceremonia de 1:00 p.m. a 2:00 p.m. La ceremonia comenzará a las 2:00 p.m.
