Maurice Gene Moser

Maurice Gene Moser of Ligonier, IN was ushered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, FL. He was born in Goshen, IN on October 31, 1940, the son of Eugene V. and Elizabeth “Betty” (Blue) Moser.

Maurice married the love of his life, Judy Lee Saggars on August 6, 1961. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Judy Moser of Ligonier, IN, their beloved children: Kim (Pastor Mitch) Moser of Syracuse, IN, Marty (Faith) Moser of Ligonier, IN, and Pastor Dr. Matt (Kimberly) Moser of Hastings, MI; 11 grandchildren: Benjamin Moser, Hannah (Jared) Quick, Melanie Conley, Silas (Grace) Moser, Amanda (Tom) Smith, Kate (Daniel) Garvin, Brandon (Valerie) Moser, Mason Moser, Caleb (Laura) Moser, Andrew and Wyatt Moser; twelve great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cynthia Pergrem of Syracuse, IN.

Maurice was a member of McCoy Memorial Baptist Church in Elkhart, IN. He graduated from Ligonier High School and attended Purdue Winter Short Courses. He farmed for over 60 years. He was innovative and always studying to do a better job of farming, receiving among others, the No-Till Conservation Award and the Master Farmer of the Year Award.

He served the Lord and his community in many ways. Maurice served on the board of directors at Grace Children’s Hospital in Port au Prince, Haiti. He volunteered and supported the work at Hôpital Baptiste Biblique (HBB, ABWE’s southern hospital) in Togo, West Africa. He enjoyed visiting missionaries and family members serving the Lord around the world, going on many mission trips. His passions in life were family and traveling. He enjoyed bicycling, fishing, attending grandchildren’s activities, and anything that involved family.

A funeral service will be held in Maurice’s honor at 10 am on Friday, April 9, 2021, at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 8, 2021, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.

Son and Pastor, Matt Moser and Pastor Ray Laborde will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier.
