Marilyn E. Fought, 87, of Ligonier, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Auburn Village.
She was born on April 8, 1939 in West Virginia to the late John and Margaret (Ryan) Daugherty.
She graduated from high school as Salutatorian and then moved to Arlington, Virginia to work for the State Department doing transcriptions for Senators. It was there that she met her husband, Byron Fought, while he was serving in the Army. The two were married in June of 1962 and he preceded her in death in 2025.
Mrs. Fought was a devoted Homemaker and the Business Manager of the family business, always putting her family first, She will be fondly remembered for deep love of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marilyn loved to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events, concerts, and dance recitals. She also enjoyed going to the movies.
She is survived by her children, Cary Fought, Roger Fought, Colleen Kelley, Tim Fought, Janet Fought, and Owen Fought; grandchildren, Stephan, Kendall, Cameron, Mallorie, Bethany, Ava, Adalyn, Jacqueline, and Jade; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Kathleen Horvath, Rosemary Davis, and Sharon Vigilante.
Also preceding her in death were siblings, Joanne and Jack.
Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at 6 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, with Calling from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 1 p.m. at Marion National Cemetery.
