Maria Elena Pizana

Maria Elena Pizana, age 68, of Ligonier, IN, passed away on October, 29, 2020 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN following a recent illness. She was born on February 21, 1952 the daughter of Jesus Pizana Estrada and Josefina Lizaran Moreno in La Union Aguascalientes, Mexico. In 1972, she married Jose Copsepcion Cardona Alvarez; he preceded her in death in April of 1974. She then married Pedro de le Luz; he preceded her in death on February of 2019.

Maria is survived by two children, Laura (Omar Cruz) Cardona and Juan (Martha) Cardona, both of Ligonier, IN; seven grandchildren, Justin Contreras, Eric Contreras, Bianca Contreras, Brayan Contreras, Carlos Cardona, Diego Cardona, and Pilar Cardona; a great-grandson, Emanuel Pina; and siblings, Pedro Pizana, Teodoro Pizana, Edmundo Pizana, Estela Pizana, Veneranda Pizana, Olivia Pizana, Jesus Pizana, and Maria Carmen Pizana. She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands.

Maria was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed knitting and sewing. She also attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Family and friends will be received from 4-10 PM on Monday, November 2, 2020 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 3PM on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 300 Ravine Park Drive, Ligonier, IN 46767. Father Wilson Corzo will officiate.

A private cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation & Remembrance Center in Ligonier.
