Lucinda Kay Mcclure

October 22, 1947 — May 1, 2025

LuCinda 'Cindy' Kay McClure, 77, of Wolf Lake passed away at 3:46pm on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Parkview Whitley Hospital surrounded by all her family after a well fought battle with cancer.

She was born on October 22, 1947, in Astoria, Oregon, a daughter of Thomas Abijah and Mildred Jane (Waters) Smith. She grew up in Wolf Lake and attended Wolf Lake High School. On September 13, 1969, she was married to David McClure at the residence of his parents at Tri-Lakes. They lived in Clarksville, TN while stationed at Fort Campbell, Merriam, Tri-Lakes for 30 years while raising their children and then moving back into Cindy’s childhood home in Wolf Lake for the last 20 years.

She worked in various jobs throughout the years, including department stores, factories and was also an inmate officer at the Chain-O-Lakes correctional facility. But her most important job was caring for her grandchildren, great grandchildren and all HER other 'children'. She was a member of the VFW Post 4717 Axillary in Wolf Lake serving as president for over 10 years.

Cindy's greatest joy was spending time with her family, and she loved being outdoors, camping, flowers, reading and all of her pets which sometimes included wild animals. She was known for her tidy, well decorated house of antiques and treasures, her sewing and crocheting skills, rhubarb pies, deviled eggs, scalloped potatoes, homemade noodles and endless glasses of unsweet iced tea.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Dave, of Wolf Lake; children Lauri (Tim) Cramer, Joel (Carrie) McClure and Kelli (Doug) Stackhouse along with many other kids that she welcomed into her home and considered her own; grandchildren Amanda (Kyle) Lock, Jessica (Derrick Owen) Jackson, Justin (Katie Reiter) McClure, Madelyn McClure, Kyleigh (Jacob) Gaerte, Jacob, Emileo and Meyah Kilgore, Kris Cramer, and John, Calvin (Kortney), Zane and Collin Stackhouse; 18 great grandchildren; sisters Vicky (Rick) Lawson and Annie (Dewey) Sheets; brothers Tim (Jackie) Smith and Gary (Lisa) Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister Susie; sister Becky Wells; brother Tommy 'Butch' Smith, and grandchild Dustin Cramer.

The family will be holding an “Open House” style Celebration of Life at the Wolf Lake VFW for friends and family on Saturday May 10th starting at 12:00. She will be laid to rest, at a later date, with a private ceremony at Wolf Lake Cemetery. Memorials should be made to VFW Post 4717, 1278 U.S. 33, Wolf Lake, IN 46796 or the Noble or Whitley Humane Society in honor of her lifelong love of animals.
