Linda Jean Strong, age 68, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.
She was born on October 7, 1949, in Kendallville, IN, to Merrit Dwayne and Nancy Lou (Gangwer) Hawkins.
Linda worked for many years in the Printing Industry. She enjoyed horseback riding, anything to do with animals, listening to the Beatles albums, reading, canning, and making her garden the best it could be. Her family will remember her as a really good cook with a spitfire personality. She also spent quite a bit of time working on cars and her mother attests that she was an excellent driver. Linda was truly and independent woman who liked to keep busy. She will be missed by so many.
Linda is survived by her two children: Spenser Strong and his significant other, Natasha Smith, of Cromwell, IN, Veronica Strong of Ligonier, IN; her parents, Merrit and Nancy Lou; three grandchildren: Wesley Strong of Cromwell, IN, Jaylynn and Xavia Coy of Ligonier, IN; one grandchild on the way; sister, Patsy Pippenger of Elkhart, IN; and three nephews: Terrel, Troy, and Tracy Pippenger.
The family will host a Memorial Gathering of family and friends from 10am-12noon on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Kendallville American Legion, 322 South Main Street; Kendallville, IN 46755. In keeping with Linda’s wishes, a cremation committal has taken place at Legacy Cremation and Remembrance Center in Ligonier.
