Obituary

Larry James Wallace, 79, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Goshen Hospital.

He was born on March 16, 1947 in West, Mississippi to the late Arnell James and Mary Frances (McHan) Wallace.

Mr. Wallace answered his Country’s call and Honorably served in the United State Army.

On September 3, 1983, in Orland, Larry married the love of his life, Katherine Wieman.

Larry worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator, having helped to construct many area roads and businesses. He was a 35 year member of IUOE Local 103.

In his free time, Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding four-wheelers, and slot cars. He worked tirelessly to restore his 1964 Pontiac GTO and that car became one of his prized possessions. Most of all, Larry was a proud grandpa, always spending as much time with his grandchildren as he could.

Larry is survived by his wife, Katherine; children, Leah (Thomas) Gall, Nicholas (Crystal Criswell) Wallace, and Adam Papoi; grandchildren, Aiden Schultz, Collin Wallace, Alice Gall, Feanix Wallace, Baylor Gall, and Nolan Wallace; and siblings, Patricia and Wayne.

Also preceding him in death were siblings, Jeanette, Gwen, Mary Ann, Arthur “Bub”, and Linda.

A Memorial Service celebrating Larry’s life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 2 p.m. at the LaGrange Church of God. Following the service a gathering will take place at Larry's home in Topeka.

Memorials in Larry’s name may be directed the Goshen Cancer Center.
