Larry W. Frey

LIGONIER - Larry Wayne Frey, age 73 , of Ligonier passed away peacefully of natural causes on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at his home. He was born on October 25, 1944 to Sylvanus S. and Marietta L. (Miller) Frey in Wolf Lake, IN.

Larry was a lifetime area resident and graduated from Ligonier High School in 1962.  He lived and worked on a farm his entire life.  As a conscientious objector, he fulfilled his two year military service obligation by working in Gary, Indiana from 1965-67.  In addition to farm work, he worked at Gerring Industries in Shipshewana, Indiana from 1967 to 1984, never missing a day of work in those seventeen years.  He then retired in 1984, and subsequently enjoyed his retirement years by continuing to live on the farm until the day of his death. Larry enjoyed the outdoors, cycling, attending auctions, cutting wood, and birdwatching. He was also a past member of the Maple Grove Church of Topeka.

He is survived by five siblings, Mary (Morry) Godfrey, of Wawaka, IN, Carol Frain of Ligonier, IN, John (Lynn) Frey of Mishawaka, IN, Jim Frey of Goshen, IN, Sherri Rosenogle of Albion, IN, nieces and nephews; Christina, Tim, and Jeff Frain, Susan (Chris) Senn, Laurie Frey, Heather (Marc) Eash, Jennifer Rosenogle, Ryan (Torie) Rosenogle; eight great nieces and nephews, one great-great nephew, step siblings; Tamra (Phil) Gerber, Paula (Gary) Yoder, and Craig (Beth) Helman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five aunts, and step-mother, Theda “Dot” (Helman) Frey.

A funeral service held in Larry’s honor on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 3PM at Yeager Funeral Home – 1589 Lincolnway South Ligonier, IN 46767, with Pastor Joey Nelson officiating . Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Topeka, IN.

There will be a time of visitation from 12PM – 3 PM on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions in Larry’s honor can be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
