Keith Jay Bobeck, age 71, of Topeka, IN passed away Monday June 4, 2018 at 1:45 am at home following a brief illness. He was born on April 17, 1947 the son of Karl and Nedra (Loy) Bobeck in Topeka, IN. On May 24, 1970, he married Patce L. Kendall and they shared 48 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife, Patce Bobeck of Topeka, IN; three daughters, Kelcie (Cori Broswavic) Bobeck of Camby, IN, Kristina (Richie Doerscher) Bobeck of Topeka, IN, and Kimberly (Matt) O’Conner of Pataskala, OH; five grandchildren, Mason O’Conner, Charlie O’Conner, Noel O’Conner, Gabriel O’Conner, and Maizie Doerscher; siblings, Karlyn Hostetler of Shipshewana, IN, Karen Oesch of Wolcottville, IN, and Konnie McLain of Tampa, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth Bobeck; and a sister, Kay Bobeck.
Keith graduated from Topeka High School in the class of 1965 and was the class president. He was an outstanding athlete that ran cross country and track, and played basketball and volleyball. He went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army from 1966-68 during which time he was stationed in Germany. Keith retired from Yoder Farm Services in 2015 after 35 years of dedicated service. He was involved in 4H for many years and loved Allis Chalmers tractors. No green for him, only orange. Keith was a member of the Topeka United Methodist Church. He formerly served on the LaGrange County Board of Zoning Appeals, and the Eden Township Advisory Board, and was currently serving on the Topeka Area Historical Society board of directors. Keith will always be remembered for his love of people, his quick but dry wit, and his great sense of humor.
Family and friends will be received from 4-8 PM on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 and from 2-8 PM on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Eden Worship Center, 4095 S 900 W, Topeka, IN 46571.
A funeral service will be held in Keith’s honor on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 10 AM. Pastors Harold Gingerich and Kevin DeKoninck will officiate. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery in Millersburg, IN.
