John W. Clugston

John W. Clugston, age 73, of Cromwell, IN passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born on August 17, 1949 the son of Walter S. and Catherine (DeVaughn) Clugston Jr. in New Castle, IN. On April 13, 1991, he married Althea Reier.

John honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a volunteer fireman for several years. He retired as a machinist from Dana Corporation and also owned and operated JC Marine. He was a member of Richville United Methodist Church and loved to fish. He was quite the fisherman, participating in, and winning many bass tournaments.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Althea Clugston of Cromwell, IN; two sons, Shane A. (Leanne) Clugston of Summerville, South Carolina and Brendan P. Clugston of Dandridge, Tennessee; two step-children, Heather Schuller of Warsaw, IN and Shawn Schuller of Columbia City, IN; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three siblings, Jacque Kempton of Connersville, IN, Cathy (Roy) Vandivier of Milton, IN, and LaForne (Brenda) Clugston of Cambridge City, IN; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Paul Kempton.

A funeral service will be held in John’s honor at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767 on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 12 noon. Pastors Tamera Gerber and Gary Ford will officiate. Burial arrangements will take place at a future date at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, IN.

Family and friends will be received from 10 am to 12 pm, prior to the service at the funeral home.
