Joan "Joni" Saggars

Joan “Joni” Ruth Saggars, age 69, of Ligonier, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at home following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on April 23, 1955, the daughter of George A. and Mary E. (Wysong) Parkison at Lucky Hospital in Wolf Lake. On September 28, 1974, she married Kent Charles Saggars.

Joni graduated from Central Noble High School in 1973 and worked for various local businesses including, Kidd & Company, ERS, Ligonier Telephone Company, eventually retiring from Burnsworth-Zollars. Joni enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was biking, fishing, kayaking, mushroom hunting, or hiking. She loved traveling, especially with the Wander Women Tribe. Joni attended the Ligonier United Methodist Church and loved her family deeply. She will be greatly missed.

Joni is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Kent Charles Saggars of Ligonier; a son, Scott (Amanda) Saggars of Ligonier; four grandchildren, Elle (Alex Arnold) Saggars of Wolcottville, Zach (Victoria) Becker of Kendallville, Taylor (Jacob) Pearson of Ligonier, and Hunter (Jaden Hanna) Saggars of Kendallville; four great-grandchildren, Blair Saggars, Blake Saggars, Jerrik Pearson, and Aliviah Pearson; brother, Stephen (Tamara) Parkison of Crown Point, Indiana, Suzanne (N. Fay) Earnhart of Knapp Lake, and her twin brother, James (Nan) Parkison of Larwill; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Joni’s life will be held at 6pm on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Ligonier United Methodist Church,  466 Townline Rd., Ligonier, IN. Pastor Jean Ness will officiate.

Family and friends will be received from 12-2 pm and 4-6 pm prior to the service at the church.
