Jean Powell

Jean Anne Powell, 63, of Ligonier, passed away September 27, 2017 at Avalon Village in Ligonier, IN. She was born in Huntingon, IN on November 1, 1953, the daughter of Melvin and Blythe (Jacobs) Rice.

Jean will be remembered by her strong work ethic and the way she knew how to cook. She was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. She really enjoyed routing on for those sports teams. Her favorite color was purple and she knew how to play a game of euchre and spades well. Taking in a game of Domino’s and B-I-N-G-O at Avalon Village were just a few ways she would spend her time there. She held special relationships with people and will be terribly missed.

Jean is survived by her children, Peter Powell, and Shawna (Timothy) Sparks; and grandchildren, Haley Powell, Hana Powell, Aiden Sparks, Gabriel sparks, and Chloe Sparks.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Blythe Rice; a brother, Basil Rice; and sister Judith Garrett.

No public services are planned. The family requests that friends remember Jean in their own way.
