Jacob "Jake" M. Galloway

TOPEKA – Jacob M. “Jake” Galloway, age 88, of Topeka, IN passed away, on Tuesday afternoon April 03, 2018 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born in Cromwell, IN on January 4, 1930 the son of Merl and Erma (Lindsey) Galloway.  On June 16, 1956, Jake married Nancy L. Plank at the Baptist Church in Topeka, IN.

Jake served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954. He worked hard for 44 years in whatever capacity Yoder's Farm Service in Topeka asked of him.  He was truly proud of everything he set his mind to.  His work ethic was to treat his customer’s right, otherwise he wouldn’t have a job.  In his spare time, Jake liked to go fishing with friends or by himself.  He was an active member for 35 years at Maple Grove church. He was a devoted father, loving husband, loyal brother and a great uncle. He never met a stranger, and enjoyed meeting people wherever he traveled to.  His family and friends will remember his love of racing stock cars and the memories he made on the track in New Paris, Plymouth, or South Bend.

Jake is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Nancy L. Galloway of Topeka, IN; daughter, Debra Galloway of Topeka, IN; sister, Mary Jane (Larry) Kerrigies of Elkhart, IN; sisters-in-law, Esther (Glen) Mast and Carol Martin; twenty nieces and nephews; and countless friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Merl and Erma Galloway; Son, Danny Galloway; and brothers, Donald and John Galloway.

A funeral service in Mr. Galloway’s honor will be held on Saturday April 7, 2018 at 9:30 am at Maple Grove Church - 806 S Main St, Topeka, IN 46571.  Pastor Jason Gingerich will officiate. Burial will follow at Eden Cemetery, in Topeka, IN.

Family and friends will be received from 3-7 PM on Friday April 6, 2018 at Maple Grove Church in Topeka.  There will also be an additional time of visitation from 9AM-9:30AM on Saturday, prior to the service.
