Irene Schrock peacefully passed away on March 30, 2025, at the age of 103 in LaGrange, Indiana. Irene was born to Ross and Olive (Hollopeter) Tustison on February 24, 1922, in DeKalb County, and spent most of her life in LaGrange County.
Irene was the loving matriarch of a large and close-knit family. She delighted in the company and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by three devoted sons, Larry (Hilda) Schrock, Lowel (Debbie May) Schrock, and Lynn Schrock; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and twenty-three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Virgil Schrock; her son, Lloyd Schrock; her sister, Evelyn Grimm; and her parents.
Throughout her life, Irene embodied the spirit of a homemaker, enriching the lives of those around her with her loving and gentle nature. She balanced her family life with work, spending some time at Eden Products in Topeka before retiring in 1974. Irene’s involvement with her community was evident through her volunteer efforts, which included contributions to the Topeka United Methodist Church, Red Cross Blood Mobile, the Well Child Clinic, and the Seniors Lunch Program in LaGrange.
Irene's interests reflected her generous spirit. She was an avid gardener, a voracious reader, and a master of crossword puzzles. Her baked cookies brought warmth and sweetness to family gatherings, leaving a legacy of tender memories.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at Topeka United Methodist Church, 124 W. Pine St., Topeka, IN 46571. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 4-8 p.m. and for an hour prior to the service on Friday, all at the church. Interment will take place, following the service, at Eden Cemetery. Yeager Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Irene’s name to the Parkview Foundation located at Parkview Hospice, 1900 Carew Street, Suite 6 Attn: Nancy, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46805.
