Howard Lee Baker, 83, of Ligonier, passed away Monday, July 13, 2026 at his residence.

He was born on May 21, 1943 in Stroh to the late Thomas and Norma (Zook) Baker.

On November 14, 1969, he married the love of his life, Cathy Jo Durham. She preceded him in passing on December 18, 2025.

Howard was an avid leather and woodworker. In his free time, Howard enjoyed riding his motorcycle, doing yard work, and just spending time outside.

He is survived by his children, Rhonda Lucas and Dawn Byland; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Robert “Bob” (Peggy) Baker and Madona.

Also preceding him in death were a daughter, Monica Lee Bell; and siblings, Joanne and Beverly.

A Funeral Service celebrating Howard’s Life will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Assembly of God, 1288 West Union Street, Ligonier with calling from 1:30 p.m. until the start of the service at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery.
