Hernando L. Martinez

Hernando L. Martinez, 90, of Ft. Wayne, IN passed away on July 28, 2023 at 6:15 PM. He was born April 13, 1933 in Brownsville, Texas to Gregorio and Manuela Martinez. He married Felicitas Martinez on July 20, 1985 in Toledo, OH.

He worked as a farm worker for 10 years and also worked for Anderson’s Construction in Maumee, OH as a construction worker for many years. Hernando also served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He liked to fish in his free time.

Hernando is survived by his wife, Felicitas; his children, Hernando (Kathleen) Martinez of Toledo, OH, Olga Martinez of Toledo, OH, Eduardo Martinez of Maumee, OH, Tony (Jennifer) Gonzalez of Toledo, OH, Daniel Martinez of Ft. Wayne, Sara (Manuel) Pineda of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; one sister, Eulalia Martinez of Austin, TX; two brothers, Fred Martinez of Columbus Grove, OH and Marlin Martinez of Brownsville, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Lugardo Martinez, Gregorio Martinez, Celso Martinez, Marvin Martinez, and Martin Martinez; and sister, Maria Garcia.

A funeral service in honor of Hernando will be held at Yeager Funeral Home, 1599 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN on Wednesday at 11 AM with Pastor Phil officiating. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, IN.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from 4 to 8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
