Helga Gisela Hewitt

Helga Gisela Hewitt, age 85, of Columbia City, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. She was born to Sigmund and Erna (Macher) Brathering on September 30, 1938 in Berlin, Germany. She married James Hewitt. He passed away on June 19, 2011.

Helga is survived by her daughter, Leona Gordon Turner and son in law Richard Turner of Larwill; grandchildren, Cody Gordon and Ron Coburn; sister, Karen of Germany and best friend and companion Larry Carter of Columbia City. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Manuela Coburn and granddaughter, Nicole Coburn.

Helga loved people, decorating, clothing, colors, nature, and wildlife. She also loved animals, especially her dogs.

A graveside service will be held in Helga’s honor at 2pm on Monday, June 17, 2024 at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, Indiana. Pastor Brad Cox will officiate. Memorial contributions may be directed to American Legion Post 98, 430 W Business 30, Columbia City, Indiana 46725.
