Harvey G. Holmen

Harvey G. Holmen , age 72, of Ligonier, IN., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born on March 25, 1946, the son of George R. and Margery L. (Lohse) Holmen in Alexandria, MN.

He is survived by his children; Tonya (Doug) Ogle of Ligonier, IN, Johnny Thompson of Avilla, IN, Tina Thompson of Michigan City, IN; eight grandsons, Brooks and Bailey Ruisard of Ligonier, IN, Bobby, Lucas, Johnathan and Gabe Thompson of Avilla, IN, Dale, and Bobby Suppa of Michigan City, IN; one granddaughter, Stacy Milich of Michigan City, IN, one brother; Carroll Holmen of Clarksdale, AZ, along with several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Holmen; parents, George and Margery Holmen, and sister, Beverly Kroger.

Harvey graduated with an Bachelor’s degree from Moorehead State University in 1966. He had quite the work ethic.  He continued to be a full time employee until his time of passing.  Harvey had a heart of gold and always put everyone before himself.  He enjoyed the memories he created with his family and friends.  His love for riding motorcycles and wearing a black T-Shirt is what everyone will remember him by.  The best way to describe him is from a scripture verse – …”As I have loved you, love one another.”… [John 13:34].

A Memorial Service will be held in Harvey’s honor on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 1PM at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor Joey Nelson will officiate. Burial will take place at Swan Lake Cemetery in Michigan City, IN at a later date.

Family and friends will be received from 4-8 PM on Friday, August 17, 2018 at the funeral home.
