Gerald Flora

Gerald “Jerry” Flora, age 79, of Kendallville, passed away on August 26, 2024 at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville. Jerry was born on August 8, 1945 to Homer & Louella (Lester) Flora in Mishawaka. On March 4, 1967 he married Martha Ellis in Indianapolis.

Jerry spent most of his career as a math teacher and football coach, then ended his career as an athletic director at Central Noble School Corporation. Jerry was an avid sports fan. When he wasn’t watching the Cubs or the Bears, you would find him on the golf course. He spent his summers in his garden and loved being with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Flora of Kendallville; his 4 daughters, Dr. Jennifer (Timothy) Wood of Lincoln, NE, Laura (Jared) Hill of Madison, Deborah Flora of New Carlisle, Sarah (Josh) Masterson of Macy; ten grandchildren, Jacob, Jack, Liv, Jessie, Hunter, CJ, Noah, Tyler, Savanah and Grant. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carol Zerung; and his aunt, Jean McKinney.

The family will hold a memorial service in Jerry’s honor on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 5:30 PM at the Ligonier Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Ligonier Presbyterian Church.
