Georgetta Jean Martin

Georgetta Jean Martin, age 74, of Ligonier, IN passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 12:53 pm at Avalon Village in Ligonier, IN. She was born on February 17, 1946 the daughter of William L. and Thelma M. (Walker) Thaxton in Charleston, WV. On June 24, 1961, she married James W. Martin and together they shared 56 years of wedded bliss.

She is survived by three sons, Dallas James (Christie) Martin, Timothy Wade Martin, and Mark Allan Martin all of Ligonier, IN; three grandchildren, Tiffany Ann Hatfield, Chad Allen Lloyd, and Christopher Leathers; a great-grandchild, Summer; and four siblings, Darrell Thaxton, Jimmy Thaxton, Wayne Thaxton, and Marilyn Thaxton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Martin on September 19, 2017; and siblings, Diana McGrew, Melinda Thaxton, and Billy Lee Thaxton.

Georgetta worked at Monsanto in Ligonier for several years and attended Faith Christian Center in Goshen, IN. She was a member of the National Rifle Association, a great cook, and enjoyed bingo, and her flower garden when she was home.

A funeral service will be held in honor of Georgetta at 2pm on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor Jimmy Shepherd will officiate.  Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, IN

Family and friends will be received from 1-2 pm prior to the service at Yeager Funeral Home.
