Forrest Lee Feightner

Forrest Lee Feightner, age 91, of Ligonier, Indiana passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Goshen Hospital. He was born on August 26, 1932, the son of Howard A. & Valeria L. (Reid) Feightner. He married Peggy J. Ramsby on July 2, 1955; she preceded him in death in 1998. He married Peggy E. Moore on November 4, 2000.


Forrest was a 1950 graduate of Ligonier High School where he held the Long Jump Record and was quite the athlete. He went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy and retired from Penn Controls in Goshen after over 51 years of faithful service. He was a member of the West Noble American Legion and Living Waters Lutheran Church in Wolf Lake, Indiana. Forrest was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Hoosiers, the Colts, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Tampa Bay Lightning Hockey. He also had a special place in his heart for animals, especially stray dogs and cats.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy E. Feightner of Ligonier, Indiana; two children, Robert C. (Julie) Feightner of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Arlynn (Brad) Haarer of Tampa, Florida; a step-daughter, Kathryn McDowell of Syracuse, Indiana; a granddaughter, Jenna (Pete Cullim) Miller of New York, New York; step-grandchildren, Kayla Crosby of Fort Wayne, Indiana; David Manuszak of Mishawaka, Indiana, Sarah (Nicholas Hill) McDowell of Syracuse and Andrew McDowell of Goshen, Indiana; three step-great-grandchildren, Oliver, Oakley, and Owen; a sister,  Barbara Ellen Hochstetler of Topeka, Indiana.


He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Peggy J. Feightner; a step-son, Gary Goffeney;  and two brothers, Homer Feightner and Larry Feightner.


A funeral service will be held in Forrest’s honor at 1pm on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, Indiana 46767. Pastor Lynn Hanson will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier.


Family and friends will be received from 11 am - 1 pm prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
