Fernando "Freddy" Garza

Fernando P. "Freddy" Garza, age 76, of Ligonier, passed away on March 27, 2024 at his home. He was born on August 24, 1950 in Weslaco, Texas to Enrique and Ohenia (Perez) Garza. He married Paula Martinez on May 5, 1971 in Hildalgo, Texas. Freddy is survived by his children, Fernando (Kavata) Garza of New York, Nancy Oviedo of Ligonier; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Reymundo Jesus Garza, Susano Garza, Marcus Antonio Garza, Enrique Garza, Noe Garza and Bruno D Garza; sisters Guadalupe Issabelle Garza and Maria Anita Corcino; half-brothers Adolfo Fito Garza, Jose Enrique Garza and Fernando Garza. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Paula Garza and daughter, Leslie Luevano. Freddy served in the United States Marines as a Sargent during Vietnam. He was a member and Past Commander of the West Noble American Legion Post 243 and the VFW Post 1342 in Syracuse. Freddy enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He lived to make sure his family was taken care of and would give up his last dollar for any of them. A service will be held in Fernando’s honor at 7pm on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, Indiana 46767. Pastor Josh Sheets will officiate and military rites will be rendered by the West Noble American Legion. Family and friends will be received from 5-7 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
