Edward Lee Smith

Edward Lee Smith, 50 , of Kendallville, IN, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 8, 2018.  He was born on April 6, 1968 in Hastings, MI to Frank Edward and Letha I. (Main) Smith. On August 23, 2014, he married Beth Diane Bryant; she survives.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Beth Smith; children, Clayton Smith Marten, Brittney Smith, Seth (Dani) Brown, Brehtt (Nick) McClellan, Jacob Smith, Marilyn Helgesen, Letha Smith; Father, Frank (Nora) Smith; Mother-in-law, Bonnie Bryant; siblings, Ellen (Todd) Johnson, Candice Smith, Lucinda (James) Hicks; six nieces and nephews, Andrew (Brianna) Underwood, Ryan (Shantel) Hochstetler, Steven Smith, Katie Hicks, Wyatt Hicks, Heather (Kyle) Lander; along with many cousins.  He is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, mother, and father-in-law.

Ed kept very busy.  He acquired two Associates Degrees one for Robotics and the other for Mechanics.  He finished Christie’s Auctioneer School in Indianapolis and was successful for the last several years.  Collecting antiques, guns, and heavy equipment was a part of his routine.  Ed also liked to spend his time analyzing everything and playing cards with the kids. He officially has changed the rules to playing UNO and was able to teach them how to play hearts, backgammon, chess, rummy, and euchre.  He truly was the life of any party, and he will be missed for his story telling and ability to make anyone crack a smile.

A memorial service in his honor will be at 2 PM Saturday October 13, 2018 at Stones Hill Church - 151 West Stones Hill Rd., Ligonier, IN 46767.

Friends may visit with the family at the church from 1-2 PM prior to the service.
