Duane Lee Fetters

Duane Lee Fetters, age 73, of Kimmell, passed away on February 28, 2025 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on March 1, 1951 in Wolf Lake, Indiana to Richard and Betty (Adams) Fetters.  Duane married Trudy Geiger on March 16, 1993 in Albion, Indiana.

Duane is survived by his wife, Trudy Fetters of Kimmell; children, Sherri (Chris) Kuehner of Cromwell, Gary (Allysha) Fetters of Columbia City, Doug (Stacy) Fetters of Columbia City, Jacy (Brad) Salzbrun of Kimmell, Troy Ritchie of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and mother of his three oldest children, Patricia (Tim) Emely of Ligonier. He was preceded in death by parents, brother, Dennis Fetters and great-grandson, Landon.

Duane was a farmer for most of his life.  He had worked at West Noble School Corporation for over 30 years, serving as a custodian and school bus driver.  Duane also had a business where he hauled hay for the Amish.  He enjoyed gardening, driving his buggy around the yard, as well as his beloved dog, Luna. Duane and his family turned the old milkhouse into a canning kitchen, which eventually turned into a party barn. He used the party barn to show off his collection of signs and also hosted weddings, graduations, and family gatherings. Duane used his spare time to enjoy watching his sports teams the Cubs, IU and the Colts. He also loved softball, mushroom hunting, and antiquing in his spare time.

A gathering of family and friends will be held in Duane’s honor from 2:00 – 6:00 PM on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Yeager Funeral Home. A service will be held to commemorate the life of Duane at 6 pm following the visitation at the funeral home. Cremation will take place at Legacy Cremation and Remembrance Center in Ligonier.
