Donald Ray Stover , age 88, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 at his home in Goshen, IN. He was born to the late Wilbur and Beatrice (Gephart) Stover on December 13, 1928 in Wilshire, OH. On February 12, 1947 he married Rose Ann Martens in Wooster, OH.
He leaves behind his wife of 70 years, Rose Ann Stover of Goshen, IN; children; son, Gary (Linda) Stover of Syracuse, IN, daughter; Vickie Newman of Oceola, IN, son, Randy (Yetta) Stover of Versailles, KY; grandchildren; Todd (Kandi) Stover, Chad (Laura) Stover, Ben (Natalie) Showalter, Aaron (Ibi) Newman, Andrea (Chris) LeSeure, Jarad (Abby) Stover; 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur & Beatrice Stover; sister, Virginia Ruth Bourelle; and brother, Robert Wayne Stover.
Don worked for 47 years with an exceptional work ethic in the Grocery Industry. For 17 of those years he was able to work alongside his family by owning and operating the Stover’s Super Valu grocery store in Ligonier, IN. Don was an active member at the Ligonier United Methodist Church. He also was a member with the Shriner’s out of Fort Wayne, IN and was Past Master of the Masonic Lodge # 185 in Ligonier, IN. In his spare time he really enjoyed wood carving birds, fishing, watching Notre Dame Sports on television, yardwork, reading, and teasing his many grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received from 4PM-7PM on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Yeager Funeral Home – 1589 Lincolnway South Ligonier, IN 46767. A Masonic Service will take place at the funeral home following the visitation times. Friends will also be received on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 10AM-11AM prior to the service time at the church.
A funeral service in Don’s honor will be held at 11AM on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at The Ligonier United Methodist Church at the Mount – 466 Townline Rd., Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor Jean Ness will be officiating. Burial to follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, IN.
