Debra Ann Franks passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family after fighting a courageous battle with remarkable dignity and strength. Through every challenge, Deb showed a resilience and bravery that inspired all who knew and loved her.

Deb was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Donald Knafel, and by her older brother, Donnie Knafel.

She is survived by her son, Michael Vittorio; her brothers Ron (Betsy) Knafel and Randy (Tracey) Knafel; nephew Nick (Brooke) Knafel; her great-nieces, Brynleigh and Nova Knafel; and her nephew and niece, Jackson Knafel and Molly Knafel.

Deb loved deeply and fiercely. Her family meant everything to her, and she treasured every moment spent with those she loved most. She also adored her beloved Corgies, Persephone and Minnie, and rarely missed cheering on Alabama football.

Anyone who knew Deb knew the warmth of her spirit and the joy of her presence. She had a smile that could light up any room and a way of making people feel welcomed, loved, and seen. Her strength, humor, and love will be remembered always.

Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that her suffering has ended and that the love she gave so freely will remain with us forever.
