David “Vinee” Allen Vinson, age 75, of Ligonier, Indiana passed away at 10:34 PM on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at The Cedars in Leo, Indiana. He was born on April 5, 1948, the son of Bennie Vinson and Pearl (Stone) Vinson in Decatur, Indiana. On May 26, 1978, David married Geri Lewis.
David and Geri owned and operated Vinee’s Pizza in Ligonier along with retailing concrete statues and gifts. He was a talented craftsman and was always involved with building and remodeling projects. He enjoyed this a great deal. Most importantly, David loved his family and was cherished by them. He was a faithful believer, and a genuine follower of Christ. David had a heart that was always full of compassion and love for others.
David is survived by his wife of 45 years, Geri Vinson of Ligonier; his daughter, Tracy ( Keith) Kuehnert of Fort Wayne; stepson, Kurt (Tracie) Gillespie of Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren: David, Ashleigh, Morgan, Steven, Brooke, and Jordon; three great grandchildren: Reed, Leighton, and Iris; siblings, Don (Betty) Vinson of Chicago, Illinois, Barbara (Bob) Zamastil of Claremont, CA, Paul (Drinda) Vinson of Fort Wayne; and sister-in-laws, Wanda Vinson of Markle, Indiana and Clara Gorski of Ligonier. He was also the favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Kent Gillespie, a stillborn grandson, Jordan Lenwell; and siblings, Bill Vinson, Jim Vinson, Betty Nuenswander, and Bob Vinson.
A funeral service will be held in David’s honor at 4 pm on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor Steve Vinson will officiate. Family and friends will be received from 2pm - 4 pm prior to the service.
A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 11:30 am at Hoverstock Cemetery in Zainesville, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children or The Depot MCC Thrift Shop, 1013 Division Street, Goshen, IN 46526.
