David Lee Kinnison

October 27, 1948 — February 17, 2018

David Lee Kinnison , age 69, of Boiling Springs, SC, formerly of, Wawaka, IN, went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 9:45 AM at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care in Spartanburg, SC. He was born on October 27, 1948 to Charles “Merrill” and Mary “Jane” (Yant) Kinnison in Boise, ID.  On October 18, 1969, David married ­­­­­­­Lila Lee Adkins, in Mansfield, OH.  They spent 28 years together prior to her passing away in 1998.  On September 9, 1999, he married Li Qing in Albion, IN.  She survives.

David had a lot of talent along with numerous skills.  Having a business mindset allowed him to accomplish many things.  As a self-taught electrical engineer, the years of 1972 – 2001 were spent working for the Autojectors Inc. In 1998 David began the time to complete an Associates Degree in Theology which he received in 2001.  He was also a graduate of the Reppert School of Auctioneering in Auburn, IN.  Dave was an active auctioneer from that point forward and was the owner of Kinnison’s Auction House in Wawaka, IN from 2003 – 2012.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, reading history books, genealogy, attending auctions, and fixing things.  His family considered him an avid collector of items such as coins, clocks, antiques, and firearms.  David was always present to lend a helping hand, a true jack of all trades and friend to many.  His kindness and love shared will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Li Qing; three children, David Charles (Marlene) Kinnison, of Wawaka, IN, Bryan Dail (Lisa) Kinnison, of Albion, IN, Angela Sue (Rusty) Cox, of Lillington, NC; six grandchildren: Jonie Kinnison of Ligonier, IN, Ashlyn Kinnison of Lillington, NC, Chelsea Collins of Wawaka, IN, Bryan Kinnison of Albion, IN, Sarah (Michael) Gschwend of Fort Wayne, IN, Kaylee Cox of Lillington, NC; sisters, Patricia Ann Elser of Ligonier, IN, Mary Kathleen “Tiny” (Jerry Lee) Yant of Syracuse, IN, Betty Jo Gawthrop (Bob) Morris of Goshen, IN, and Sandra (Steve) Knepper of Kimmell, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Merrill Kinnison and Mary Jane DuBois; late wife, Lila Lee Kinnison; and two brother-in-laws: Jim Elser and Dave Gawthrop.

A funeral service will be held in Mr. Kinnison’s honor on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11 AM at Yeager Funeral Home – 1589 Lincolnway South Ligonier, IN 46767, with close friend Jere Shade officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, IN following the service.

There will be a time of visitation on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 2-7 PM along with 10AM – 11AM prior to the funeral service on Saturday at the funeral home.
