David L. Blanchard, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully, on June 17, 2026

he was born in Kimmell on September 1, 1949, to the late Hank and Esther Blanchard.

On August 26, 1967, David married the love of his life, Marvena “Kay” Kuhn

David spent his career of more than 40 years with Dana. During that time Dana took him and his family to Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, and back again, retiring in Ohio. Those who worked with him often described him as an exceptional leader, someone who constantly sought solutions and inspired others to meet challenges head-on.

David also had a vibrant personality and a gift for making others feel at ease. He was known for his humor, sharp wit, and wonderful sense of humor. He loved music and enjoyed dancing. He was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed IU basketball and the Saint Louis Cardinals.

Education was deeply important to David, especially when it came to his children and grandchildren ensuring they all had the opportunity to attend college. His grandchildren were the center of his world, and he cherished every opportunity to be part of their lives. He loved to attend his grandchildren’s concerts, plays, marching band performances, swimming events, and countless other activities. He made it a point to stay connected, often calling loved ones daily just to check in, offer support, or share a story.

He also shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Archie, whose companionship brought him great joy and comfort.

He is survived by his wife, Kay; brother Jerry "Jug" Blanchard, son Joseph (Heather) Blanchard, daughter Kim Hughes and Mark Cosand, grandkids Matthew (Hannah) Hughes, Jonah (Sherrie) Blanchard, Jacob (Megan) Blanchard, Josephine Blanchard, Jada Blanchard.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Hilary and Jalaine Chavez, Rick and Sally Harmon, Lynn and Ralph Chinella, and Steve and Jane Hansen for their love, friendship, and support.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 3 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier with calling hours from 11:30 a.m. until the start of the funeral at 3 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mayo Clinic in David’s memory.
