Charles Ray “Chuck” Werker, age 63, of Syracuse, Indiana passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at home surrounded by family. He was born on November 19, 1960 in Columbia City, Indiana the son of Charles Lewis and Beth (Moore) Werker. Chuck graduated from West Noble High School in 1979 and served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1980-84. During his time in the Navy he was proud to be a crew member of the U.S.S. Midway. He was a talented carpenter for over 40 years and seemed to be able to build or do anything. He also worked at Doc’s Hardware in Albion. Chuck loved to fish, hunt, build models, and spend time with his Navy buddies. He was also a WWII History buff and enjoyed watching movies. Most importantly, he was very proud of his family and loved to spend time with them. He is survived by two sons, Dave (Deborah) Yankosky and Mike (Octavia) Yankosky; a daughter, Barbara Yankosky; nine grandchildren, Catherine (Nate) Prescott, David Yankosky III, Eric (Rachel Montgomery) Yankosky, Casey Yankosky; Kristin Yankosky, Michael (Marissa) Yankosky Jr., Tapanga (Cody) Criswell, Elizabeth (Gabriel) Mongan, Christopher Yankosky and Savannah Yankosky; six great-grandchildren, Miles Prescott, Stephone Gordon, Olivia Yankosky, Michael “Tripp” Yankosky III, Karson Thomas, and Grayson Yankosky; a sister, Jane (Jim) Brickey; numerous nieces and nephews; along with a family of close and loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Luellen Werker and Margaret Meyer. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 4pm at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor Joseph Brickey will officiate. Burial will take place at Sparta Cemetery at a later date. Family and friends will be received from 5-8 pm on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Yeager Funeral Home and also from 3-4 pm prior to the service on Tuesday.
