Carol L. Wallace age 87 , of Kendallville, IN, formerly of Ligonier, IN passed away at 5:28PM surrounded by her family on Monday, August 27, 2018 at her family’s home in Kendallville, IN.
She was born on May 5, 1931, in Topeka, IN, to Lawrence and Elsie Faye (Chiddister) Owen. She was a graduate of Millersburg High School in 1949. On June 17, 1951 she married John “Jack” A. Wallace in Ligonier, IN. He has since preceded her in death on September 12, 1997.
Carol had six children in 10 years and was very proud of all of them. She was a farmer’s wife and loving mother. She was a secretary for Essex wire prior to meeting John before they were married. She was also a receptionist at Sorg Products, Danner’s, along with J.A. Business Services in Syracuse, IN. After retirement, she continued to be involved with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, teaching them to be strong individuals as she had done with her very own children.
Carol is survived by four children: Judith “Judy” (Steven) Hewitt, of Syracuse, IN, Jo (Everett) Shoemaker of New Berne, NC, Julie (Phil) Wine of Millersburg, IN and Jeri DeLaCruz and her spouse Pam Klein of Kendallville, IN; nine grandchildren, Erin Hewitt, of Texas, Stephanie Hewitt Krieg of Van Buren, IN, Crystal Shoemaker McKinney and her husband Daniel McKinney of Columbia, MD, Rees (Kelly) Regier, of Syracuse, IN, April Regier Kauffman and her husband Ben Kauffman of Elkhart, IN, Jeremy DeLaCruz, of Mountain Home, ID, Jaclyn “Jacki” DeLaCruz Furney and her significant other Cody Click, of Syracuse, IN, Adam Klein of Kendallville, IN, Alison Klein and Adrian Laird of Largo, FL; 21 great-grandchildren; three nieces; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Elsie Faye Owen; husband, Jack Wallace; son, John Wallace Jr.; daughter, Marjorie Wallace; granddaughters, Kristin Klein and Jennifer DeLaCruz and brother, Robert L. Owen.
To honor Carol’s final wishes, a private burial will take place at Brown Cemetery in Millersburg, IN at a later date.
