Betty Jean Grawcock

Betty Jean Grawcock, age 72, of Ligonier, Indiana passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024 at Goshen Hospital. She was born on August 2, 1952 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and was the daughter of George and Mary (Oliver) Craib. On July 28, 1973, she married John Grawcock at Meese Chapel in Auburn, Indiana.

She is survived by her mother, Mary Craib of Fort Wayne, Indiana;  husband of 51 years, John Grawcock of Ligonier, Indiana; their son, Matthew A. Grawcock of Ligonier, Indiana; siblings, Allen (Marlene) Craib of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Nora (Jim) Braun of Spokane, Washington, Deanna (Ken) Smith of Santa Monica, California, John (Susan) Cornell of Eddy, Texas, Katy (Gary) Fluitt of Arroyo Grande, California, and David (Deb) Cornell of Auburn, Indiana; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, George.

Betty was a devoted homemaker, talented basket weaver, gardener, and loved to quilt. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ligonier where she taught Sunday school for many years. Betty also worked as a teacher’s aide at West Noble School Corporation.

Most importantly, Betty took great joy in caring for her family and home, she loved her family and she always made them feel loved. Wherever she went, Betty made new friends and loved people. Whether at the grocery store or in the doctor’s office, she never missed an opportunity to share her faith, in word and in deed. Last but not least, Betty loved her cats, Blankita and Boots.

A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 4pm on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, Indiana 46767. Pastor Thomas Sabel will officiate. A private burial will take place at a later date at Cedar Creek Cemetery in Garrett, Indiana.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 pm on Thursday, August 22, 2024 prior to the service at Yeager Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Living Water Lutheran Church of Wolf Lake, or The American Red Cross.
