Berneta Ruth Gangwer

Berneta Ruth Gangwer, age 88 , of Avilla, IN and formerly of Ligonier, IN passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born at the Lucky Medical Hospital, to the late David and Irma (Long) Price on June 4, 1930, in Wolf Lake, IN. She went on to Marry, Paul Leroy Gangwer; he preceded her in death on March 31, 2008.

She is survived by her beloved son, Ken (Kathy) Gangwer, of Ligonier, IN; two grandchildren: Mandy Gangwer of Ligonier, IN; and Mat Gangwer of Indianapolis, IN, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 59 years, Paul Leroy Gangwer; two brothers: Donald Price, Burl Price; and one sister, Janice Barhydt.

Berneta was a graduate of the Cromwell High School in 1948.  After she married Paul, she went on to working in a clerical position for many offices. She was an avid camper.  In her early years, she enjoyed spending time riding in the side car of the motorcycle with her husband and dearest friends, Wayne and Shirley Reed. Planting flowers in her garden, listening to music, watching Notre Dame Football, and creating memories with family and friends.  During her time as a resident of Sacred Heart she loved to read and play bingo. Berneta adored her family and will be truly missed by everyone in the community.

A funeral service will be held in her honor at 1PM on Sunday, September 2, 2018, at Yeager Funeral Home - 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor Tom Novy will officiate.

Family and friends will be received from 11AM to 1PM prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, IN following the service.
