Alfred Lindsay Jr.

Alfred Leroy Lindsay Jr., age 64, of Ligonier, Indiana, was discovered deceased on September 18, 2025 at home. Alfred was born on May 27, 1961, in Goshen, Indiana, to his late parents Alfred Lindsay Sr. and Rose (Johnson) Lindsay. He graduated from West Noble High School in 1979.

Alfred was a cherished sibling to Edith "Sue" Lindsay, Richard Lindsay, and Thomas "Tom" (Janet) Lindsay. Though he carried with him the absence of his late sisters, Dixie Peoples and Nondus Brown, and his deceased godparents, Forrest and Penny Moore, their influence shone in his every action, teaching him the enduring strength of familial bonds. A special bond was shared with his 'brother from another mother,' Charlie "Rooster" Ritchie, whose friendship was a well of solace and camaraderie.

Alfred's heart knew boundless love, a testament to his two unions, first with Cheryl Siegel and then with Rhonda (Kevin) Sharp. His role as a father was one in which he cherished above all. His daughter, Cassondra (Michael Davis) Lindsay, his stepsons, Jay (Jane) Woods, and Dustin Woods, and his ex-son-in-law, Daniel "DJ" Hoover, reflected the best of Alfred's values and taught him as much as he bestowed upon them.

His grandchildren, Tobias "To be in trouble" Hoover, Konstence "Constantly in trouble" Hoover, and Kyleigh "KK" Davis, filled his days with laughter and spirited energy, while his step-grandchildren, Miranda, and Glen Woods, added to the delightful cacophony of family life. Alfred was a great family man and a loving father. He absolutely loved being "Pappy" to his grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered for his love for his family, his sense of humor, and his sarcasm — often saying, “Get real!” or “Whatever.” The younger kids will always remember Alfred for his partial thumb, lost in a table saw accident at Gulfstream, as he loved to tell them: “My thumb got stuck up my nose when I was picking it, so the doctors had to cut it off!”

Alfred worked for Gulfstream for approximately 30 years. He also worked at Pak-A-Sak and O’Reilly’s Auto in Ligonier. Alfred bowled on different leagues at Ligonier Bowling Alley for many years. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist the family or to the Noble County Animal Shelter.

A celebration of life will be held at the old Ruth Stultz Nursery School building, 1000 Lincolnway W, Ligonier, Indiana 46767 on October 4, 2025, from 3-6 p.m.
