Thelma I. Cook

Thelma I. Cook, age 81, of Kimmell, IN passed away at 2:42 PM on December 8, 2010 in her residence following an extended illness. She was born January 31, 1929 to Fred & Grace (Cinnamon) Stingley in Fulton County, IN.

On April 12, 1947 in North Manchester, IN she married James Cook. They later moved to Kimmell, IN in 1957 coming from Kewanna, IN. Thelma worked on the Family farm most of her life. She also worked for several years at Lyall Electric in Cromwell. Thelma enjoyed bird watching, nature, cooking, & above all cooking & caring for her family whom she loved dearly & considered them to be her life.

Surviving are her husband, James Cook of Kimmell; three children, Judy (David) Clayton of Kimmell, Larry (Katie) Cook of Albion, Peggy (Kenneth) Strock of Kimmell; eight grandchildren, Brad (Carla Snyder) Smith of Kimmell, Ron (Christi) Smith of Kimmell, Heather Irwin of Fort Wayne, Tara (Mike Strieby) Lepper of Milford, Nick (Briana) Cook of Muncie, Jennifer (Eric) Covey of Ligonier, Kenny Strock of Kimmell and Heather Strock of Kimmell; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Opal (Vern) Kissinger of Royal Center, Pat Greer of Rochester and Alice (Dick) Webb of Mentone; & several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Kathryn Barden.

A funeral service will be held in her honor on Monday, December 13, 2010 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767, at 10:00 AM with Chaplin Robin La Rue officiating. Burial will be at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, IN.

There will be a time of visitation on Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 2-6 PM at Yeager Funeral Home & 1 hour prior to the funeral service. Memorial contributions are to Heartland Home Health Care & Hospice, 1315 Directors Row Ste. 206, Fort Wayne, IN 46808.
